Safe Streets for Seniors

Safe Streets for Seniors

What is Safe Streets for Seniors?

Safe Streets for Seniors is a program that works with older adults to reduce traffic-related injuries and deaths. The program engages seniors through education, community outreach, and hands-on activities to promote safe road use and empower them to help shape streets that better support their mobility needs.

Why do we need this program?

Older adults are more likely to be seriously injured or killed in traffic crashes due to changes in physical mobility. Streets designed with seniors in mind are safer, more accessible, and more comfortable for everyone.

Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Education Program

The program provides free, bicycle and pedestrian safety classes and workshops in English and Spanish to residents of the unincorporated communities in LA County.

Teen Motor Vehicle Safety Program

Dedicated to preventing crashes and reducing injuries by engaging, educating, and empowering teens around the dangers of distracted driving.

What is the PLACE Program?

The PLACE Program is housed within the LA County Department of Public Health. PLACE stands for Policies for Livable Active Communities and Environments. PLACE creates healthier, safer neighborhoods with more active spaces through policies and programs.
